bc mcleran is a California painter & photographer, who became a ceramic artist in 2019. Currently based in Umbria, Italy in a medieval village, in a 15th century home which she restored in 2007. In what was once the cellar, is now the atelier where bc mcleran handcrafts small batch pottery. Outfitted with a Japanese wheel, which she named Takeshi on which she throws stoneware clay. Surrounded by carefully labeled jars of raw materials from which she mixes non toxic glazes from her own recipes and fires in an electric kiln.

60 vases

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Infiorata, an annual flower festival in Spello, Italy bc mcleran created a numbered series of little one-off vases. Glazed in her own handmade non toxic glaze recipes of neutral tones which were inspired by the architectural materials of the town, which are the local stones of the Subasio Mountain. The glazes used were Pavlova, a satin milky white with a subtle sparkle, Porcini, a semi shiny deep warm beige, and Peony, an almost shiny delicate pink.
